“The Science of Prevention” at the World Buiatrics Congress

MSD Animal Health will present its innovative global concept of The Science of Prevention at the thirtieth edition of the World Buiatrics Congress (WBC 2018), which will be held in Sapporo (Japan) from August 28 to September 1.

The company, a sponsor of the event, will present 16 oral communications and 8 posters with this theme, in addition to opening to professionals worldwide the webinar “The Science of Prevention: How to Support the Development of the Immune System from an Early Age”.

This preventive science championed by MSD Animal Health provides new data on methods to prevent a wide range of bovine diseases, such as mastitis, bovine respiratory disease, or neonatal diarrhea.

Its objective is to educate veterinarians and producers on how to implement prevention methods from before calving to the end of the animal’s productive life to improve its health, welfare, and productivity, the three pillars of the “The Science of Prevention”.

The online symposium will take place on Thursday, August 30 and will analyze how prevention can be applied at each stage of the animal’s life from an early age.

The webinar features the collaboration of renowned specialists such as Drs. Hans-Joachim Schuberth, Dirkjan Schokker, and Geert Vertenten. Those interested in participating must register at www.msd-animal-health.es/eventos/articulos/webinar.aspx , where all relevant information and the detailed program are available.

The WBC is an ideal opportunity for interactions among all sectors related to ruminant health. The goal is for attendees to share their scientific and practical knowledge on controlling diseases that affect and condition production in the ruminant sector. Researchers, clinical veterinarians, students, industry representatives, etc., participate in this congress.

As further evidence of its commitment to animal health, MSD Animal Health will also present the Gustav Rosenberg Memorial Award at the opening ceremony to Brazilian Diego Borin Bobrega for his research on the relationship between antibiotic use and the emergence of antibiotic resistance at the University of Calgary (Canada).

To stay constantly informed during the congress, MSD Animal Health will launch the hashtag #Prevent2perform, through which the most relevant actions can be followed. More information about this key event for the ruminant sector can be found at www.wbc2018.com.
